Element of Paurohitya Certification Course

This is a unique online program designed for lay people and youth who wish to take up the vocation of Hindu Priest. For those who wish to pursue further studies in the field can transfer these credits into the Master’s program offered by IHU. The certification requires completion of the four courses listed below. Each course is for 15 weeks and students who take 2 courses per semester can finish the requirements in six months. The program also includes 15 weeks of practical training at a local temple under the supervision of the temple priest.

HRP 5101: Samskaras (3 Credits) Fees: $299 (INR 10,000 for Indian Students)

Overview: This course focuses on the study and practice of Samskaras, which are sacred Hindu rites performed during various life stages. It encompasses rituals observed from birth to death and their spiritual significance.

Content:

• In-depth analysis of the philosophy and significance behind Samskaras.
• Practical demonstrations and guidance for performing essential Samskaras.
• Exploring regional variations and adaptations of Samskaras in Hindu communities.

Overview: This course delves into the diverse rituals and ceremonies conducted in Hinduism, focusing on their cultural, symbolic, and spiritual dimensions. It encompasses daily observances, special rituals, and their roles in Hindu society.

Overview: This capstone course involves supervised practical training where students apply theoretical knowledge in conducting ceremonies, Pujas, and rituals in real settings under mentorship.

Overview: This course focuses on the spiritual care provided during the end-of-life phase in Hinduism, known as Antyeshti. It covers rituals and practices associated with death and bereavement.
