About
Capt. Manohar Mahajan is a distinguished maritime professional, entrepreneur, community leader, philanthropist, mediator, and advocate of Indian culture and Sanatana Dharma. Born in Pune, India, he began his career in the Indian Merchant Navy and rose from Cadet to Ship Captain and ultimately to Shipowner. He earned the prestigious Extra Masters qualification in Scotland, receiving the Prince Philip Charles Medal for ranking first across the United Kingdom in Mercantile Marine studies.
After settling in Miami in 1986, Capt. Mahajan pursued an MBA from the University of Miami, graduating as a Salutatorian and earning induction into Beta Gamma Sigma, an international business honor society. He has successfully operated and managed his shipping company for more than three decades while remaining deeply engaged in community development, cultural preservation, education, and humanitarian service.
Together with his wife, Sarita, he founded the Florida Indo-Cultural Society, dedicated to promoting Indian culture in South Florida. He has also played an important role in establishing and supporting Hindu institutions, educational initiatives, and charitable programs in the United States and India. Through Rotary International, he has led numerous humanitarian projects supporting children, farmers, hospitals, dialysis care, blood donation programs, and children with congenital heart conditions.
Capt. Mahajan is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator and recognized Arbitrator. His lifelong commitment to leadership, service, education, and the preservation of Sanatana Dharma aligns closely with the vision and mission of International Hindu University.
